Dear Friends,

We are honoured to announce that 2023 marks fifty years since A & E Connock was founded by our parents, Alan and Elizabeth Connock.

A fiftieth anniversary is an important milestone in any aspect of life, as it represents cherished values such as continuity, consistency and devotion. Alan Connock was a man who personified such traits and his unwavering dedication to his family, his many friends and his work is still fondly remembered to this day, nineteen years after his untimely passing, aged 66, in 2004.

Alan and Elizabeth Connock were married in 1972 and established A & E Connock the following year, with little more than a telephone, a vintage typewriter and a Telex machine in their tiny cottage in the picturesque village of Pleshey in rural Essex. They moved home in 1978 to Alderholt Mill House, adjacent to a delightful 14th Century water mill in the Dorset countryside, and from that idyllic setting, over the subsequent 26 years, they nurtured their infant enterprise into a thriving family business.

Alan and Elizabeth had five children between 1974 and 1983, all of whom have actively contributed to the company over the past three decades, and today Elizabeth is a proud matriarch to no fewer than eleven grandchildren, ranging in age from 1 to 16. We have no doubt that our dear late father would have been truly excited about the prospect of the A & E Connock baton being passed to the third generation in the coming years.

For now, though, we take the opportunity to reflect upon the past five decades and the strong and continuous principles which have been the foundation of A & E Connock since its inception: loyalty, friendship and service. Alongside Elizabeth, we are proud to continue to promote these values, which Alan exemplified throughout his life, and to fulfil our duties with humility and dedication during our period of tenure as curators of our father’s legacy and our children’s future.

We remain supported in this endeavour by a wonderful team of colleagues, past and present, whose commitment and dependability have been of immeasurable value over the years. It is a source of enormous pride that a number of colleagues have devoted many years of service to A & E Connock and we take this opportunity to honour in particular the special contribution of those stalwart individuals who have worked alongside us for two decades or more: Chris Nicol (1983-ongoing), Kurt Richter (1986-2014), Martin Tucker (1994-2019), Lou Manston (1998-2020), Cathy Melrose (2000-ongoing) and Barry Mooney (2002-ongoing).

We wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to you, our many friends and associates around the world who have supported us over the past fifty years and who have entrusted us with the privilege of your cherished custom. On behalf of the whole Connock family we sincerely thank you and we look forward to continuing our service to you over the next fifty years and beyond.
With best wishes,
